positive metal attitude

hey everyone.

big thanks to all of you who came to see us this weekend. friday in philadelphia was a ton of fun. cobra lung was awesome. tomato pizza and dance party afterwards was crucial. big ups to ryan, dennis, jim, and everyone who lives at the terrordome. you are the best current show house in your city. thanks to cody and soff for the terrific pictures.

saturday in new brunswick was one of the best shows we have ever played, if not the best. thank you all for coming and donating to support our cause. the support of the d.i.y. community makes all of the fines, risks, court time, and general police abuse bullshit completely worth it. thank you. big ups to torchbearer, chambers, and banquets as well. all of the bands were great. it's still january, but i might venture to say that this could be a contender for the best nj local show of 2010. hopefully i'm wrong.

my buddy justin from killed by the bull took some great videos of the show. here is a link to a video of us, along with one of torchbearer: http://definethemeaning.com/2010/01/25/hub-city-nj-benefit-show-1-23-10/

read definethemeaning.com, it is a great web-zine that justin writes for. here is a direct link to the live video of us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Yc2GT4qAEU

this month we recorded 5 songs for an upcoming 7" at pete and tom's houses. pete and tom did all of the recording and mixing themselves, and we're really psyched on the sound. it will be entitled positive metal attitude. the record will be out in a few months. we are not sure when because we are figuring out who will be putting it out, be it a label, or us. the songs are being mastered right now by bill at azimuth mastering. we will put two songs (PxMxAx and Disney Kids) up to stream here within the next 24 hours. please let us know what ya think!

our good friend the don has recently printed some really rad t-shirts with his d.i.y. company HEART A TACT. one t-shirt is anti-war, and the other one reps the hub and HCHC in general. i rep these goods, so you should too. shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/donogistics read: http://donangelini.com/portfolio (if you did not know, the don was responsible for all of the digital and graphic design artwork on our split 7" with rip it up.)

tom and joe's other band is called dethroned emperor. they are rad, check them out.

our next show is sunday, february 28 in new brunswick with former thieves from iowa. they are great, definitely listen to them.

on monday, february 1 pete's other band dystrophy is playing at the lit lounge in brooklyn.

on saturday, february 6 my other band john wilkes youth is playing the Hub City Food Not Bombs Benefit in new brunswick with our friends Seasick, Zhenia Golov, and Outlast. read more about it: http://johnwilkesyouth.blogspot.com

what i'm listening to right now: new NB punk rockers and s.o. friends dead limbs. (and metallica - ...and justice for all, and suffocation - human waste.)

lots of love, R-NJ and Metal Pete

back from win-tour, review in MRR#320, john wilkes youth, subversives

yo everyone! we just returned home from our five day mini-tour. five days, four shows, two car accidents, one barrel of cat poop, and one tire blow-out later: we're back in new jersey.

big ups to cenk and ben at the charleston, dire wolf, geoff/isolation/defiant hearts, max and koopa troopa beach, lisa from allston massachusetts, cobra lung, v-boys, dennis and the terrordome, tyler/ghosting, josh and amelia from burlington vermont, rob/brain shivers, juice and the providence rhode island kids, and everyone else i am forgetting. we had a radically hellacious time because of you. thank you so much.

our good friend and 'manager' GG wrote a country song on the road entitled "when the bucks go stompin' in the meadow." more information on this will be available soon.

the Stressed Out/Rip it Up split 7" made a Top 10 list in the January 2010 issue #320 of MAXIMUMROCKNROLL. cool! make george googa proud and check it here: http://maximumrocknroll.com/top-tens/

our next show right now is saturday, january 23, 2010 in new jersey. it is with our friends TORCHBEARER, CHAMBERS, and BANQUETS. this show is a benefit for three members of the hchc community who recently went to court and received over $1300 in fines for noise violation tickets that they received over the summer. bring $5 to support kids who are doing shows so that these shows can keep happening. (if you know us, you know the story. ask us in person.)

we have two new bands: john wilkes youth and subversives. i sing in JxWxYx and we play simple, fun, hardcore punk. download the demo: http://www.mediafire.com/?djzmnyvy1jy stalk: http://johnwilkesyouth.blogspot.com listen: http://www.myspace.com/johnwilkesyouth our first two shows are january 11 and february 6 in new brunswick, new jersey.

joe and tom play in subversives. and subversives plays really grindy metal and hardcore punk. their first show is on january 16 with pete's death metal band dystrophy. check them out: http://www.myspace.com/subversives and also, check out burden (tom and joe's other band) in nj on january 9.

we are recording this month for i'mnotsurewhat. i need to take a shower. i think that's all for now. what i'm listening to right now: isolation from massachusetts. get into it: http://isolation.bandcamp.com

xoxo, R-NJ
